So I have been a fan of social media for sometime now and resisted the urge to blog! The endless self promotion, the often inane ramblings of a constant stream of people all with something to say!
Alas I can resist no more, so here is my first blog, and yes already I am rambling.
So a bit about me. I live in rural Tasmania in a little town called Geeveston. My partner and I packed up all our worldly belongings in Queensland, jumped in the car and 10 months later here we are.
To say this has been a BIG change, well that would be the understatement of the year. Perhaps it is a good thing no one told us that the winters are so cold here you spend 6 months of the year looking like you have gained a good 10kg ; you are so layered in fabric. Add to that 5kg you actually gain care of a sudden urge to land face first in as much deep fried, gravy smothered "warming" carbohydrates as you can. Wash that down with a bottle of wine a few Whiskey chases, whatever alcoholic beverage you think will dull the cold loneliness of being the Bass Strait away from your loved ones.
Exercise? Well its too cold, you may literally freeze into a track suited ice sculpture if you were to dare brave the weather and go for a jog!
Yep you get the picture. If I was dating my tag line would have been " plump and lonely in Tasmania."
Then comes spring and it is literally like the state comes out of a coma. The world comes alive, it stops raining ( briefly). The country side breaths a collective sigh of relief as flowers bloom, birds sing and the sun shines. We are living in a Hollywood style cliche of heaven.
I start to jog again, and become less plump. This makes me happy, even through I am still white enough to scare small children. Life is good again.
So here we are in little Geeveston. The Journey has just begun.
This ends my first blog, if you are still with me, congrats, I haven't bored you to tears just yet.
Until next time, stay warm and slim, take it from me, its much more fun than cold and plump.
